What is the Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas Hall of Fame?

The Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas Hall of Fame exists to recognize and honor agricultural science teachers whose careers, achievements, and contributions stand exemplary. Inductees are known as well-rounded professionals who have proven their success with FFA activities, in the classroom, as well as community involvement. They have proven their desire to provide students with opportunities for premier leadership, personal growth and career success over a significant period of time.

What is the $1,000 donation used for?

The $1,000 donation will be utilized as part of the Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas scholarship fund. This fund provides qualified member’s children who are graduating from high school with a $1,000 scholarship towards their future education.

Why is there a $1,000 requirement attached to the application?

This initiative was created by the board of directors back in December of 2020. Much discussion revolved around what would make someone a Hall of Fame teacher.  It was decided that could vary from community to community based upon their influence in that area.  Not all hall of fame teachers might be superstars in CDEs, LDEs, or livestock shows, but have influenced students in a positive manner. It was decided that the monetary aspect would make sure the person being nominated had support from the community.

Are teachers guaranteed selection? If not, what happens to the $1,000 donation?

As stated above, the initiative was created by the board of directors back in December of 2020. Throughout their discussion, the goal was not deny anyone nominated.  However, each nominee will be reviewed by the committee.
